Mirabilis in initio (A wonderful start)

Hi, folks! Lucas here.

Welcome, welcome, welcome! I'm excited to start the first of many chapters in our company's development right here on the Mirus Blog! I hope to write these at least once a month if not more frequently. Be sure to check back often and sign up on our mailing list to hear more!

A little about me...

Folks have been asking me to tell a bit more about myself, so I hope this gives you a good idea of who I am. More importantly, I want you to feel a personal connection with our brand.

I'm born and raised in New York, a Long Island native. I work in project management, specializing in agile delivery. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing guitar, studying astronomy, and of course, being a watch nerd. Watches are a passion of mine and I hope to instill that same passion in you!

And as you may (or may not) have guessed, I'm the founder of Mirus.

A little about Mirus...

I founded Mirus on the principle that genuine quality should be accessible to the masses; that no one should have to continually spend hundreds of dollars (or more) on a new watch every couple of years due to planned obsolescence. Moreover, these watches should be robust enough to handle every day use (and yes, that includes going to the pool/beach) while being versatile enough to be worn on any wrist, no matter what the setting, casual or formal.

In the months leading up to our foundation, I'd envisioned watches that could fill this need, but was never convinced that anything on the market was capable of doing so; almost everything was too specialized, of poor quality or both. And so, with a little determination and support from my friends and family, I founded Mirus and it's been quite a journey so far! Ultimately, I'd like to use this platform to do some good, both in terms of growing the watch industry, but also in giving back to the world. More on the latter in coming blog posts!

For those that are curious of what our name means, Mirus translates to 'wonderful' or 'fascinating' in Latin; these are the feelings that we hope to evoke when our customers try our watches on for the first time. We choose the wreath for our logo because it has no end; it symbolizes a longevity that our watches will embody. Simply put, it isn't good enough if it isn't something that you can pass down for generations; it just wouldn't be a Mirus.

New Site Additions

We have some new content for you on our site! New sections include...

We now have a more detailed Watch section, including a bit more on our design and the intricacies that went into it. We've also added a slideshow that covers all of the configurations available so you can pick the Mirus that best suits you!

We've added a Crowdfunding section as well, including details on why you should back us, our project timeline, and project status. Stay informed!

About Us

We've also added a section about us, detailing the drive behind Mirus. There's even a little blurb about me and a picture so you can see the man behind the brand.

Other Odds and Ends

Round this out, we've made some minor tweaks here and there including new links to our social media pages, reducing our homepage content, and of course, adding our blog.

Project Status

I imagine you'd like to know a bit more about what's going on behind the scenes, right? Of course you do!

We'd already finished our design and technical drawings for the watches, and right now, we're finalizing our prototypes. Barring any unusual circumstances, we'll look to start capturing photos and begin our video production. From there, we'll start our marketing blitz before our crowdfund.

Want to help?

For those that are interested in helping us drive this to a success, we'd love to hear from you! Reach out to us via our e-mail in the footer below for specific instructions.

In the meantime, the greatest way you can help us is by sharing our website and social media pages with your friends, family, and community members (yes, that includes forums!)  Our biggest driver for success will be e-mail subscribers for those that are interested in purchasing, so be sure to tell folks to sign up! Remember, you can win a free watch!

Most of all, we just love hearing from you folks. If you have questions, we're happy to answer them, and if you have feedback, we want to hear it!

Stay Tuned!

We'll have some more exciting news coming your way in April, so stay tuned for further updates. Thank you all for your time, and most importantly, your support!
